Donation to Kettering Foodbank and Cransley Hospice Christmas Tree Recycling
Mon 21st December 2020It's been a busy month for everyone here at Kettering Self Store! In the build up to Christmas we've been helping people get organised with their self storage in Kettering, making sure those wanting to free up space at home this Christmas are able to to avoid any extra stress on top of what has already been a chaotic time for everyone. Not only have we been busy at our headquarters, but last week the team were busy making a donation to Kettering Foodbank.
Kettering Foodbank provides people with food in a time of crisis, with the aim of meeting the basic food needs for 3 days. A fantastic team of unpaid volunteers give their skills, time and experience to help those in need throughout Kettering and the surrounding villages.
If you are able to help Kettering Foodbank with a donation, there are multiple ways you can contribute. Here are the most popular ways: A direct donation to the premises; Online supermarket delivery from Tesco, Asda, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Waitrose and Ocado; Amazon Wishlist; Food Drive; and Donation Point.
Want to donate food but not sure what to donate? Here are some ideas of what a food parcel may contain...
Breakfast: cereal, porridge, long life milk and long life juice.
Lunch: tins of soup, ravioli, beans and macaroni cheese. Packets of pasta, rice and noodle meals.
Dinner: tins of meat and fish, rice, potatoes or pasta, with tins of vegetables.
Kettering Self Store are also doing the Cransley Hospice Community Christmas Tree Recycle in the New Year, and on January 8th and 9th 2021, all our real Christmas trees will be collected and recycled.
Do you want to join in and help the community too? It doesn’t matter whether it’s a Fraser Fir, or Norway Spruce, as long as it is a REAL tree! If you live in one of the following postcodes, all houses within NN8, NN15 limited areas within, NN16, NN9, NN14 and NN29, the Cransley Hospice team will come right to your door and take your tree away to be recycled and used locally.
By choosing to have your tree recycled and making a donation, you will be supporting Cransley Hospice and your local community. 10% of the money raised will go to other local charities, and the wood from each of the trees will be used locally to support community projects. The chippings will be used to support Wicksteed Park and Wellingborough Golf Club and some of the trees will be given to Boughton House.
Everyone at Kettering Self Store wants to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, here's to a great 2021!
